Principal of McKinnon Financial Services and McKinnon Financial Planning, Dean is the Financial Planner responsible for preparing and overseeing all client advice.
Dean began working in the Financial Services industry in 1988, as a junior Advisor in a boutique Finance brokerage firm, where he gained foundation knowledge of Finance structures and the process of providing advice to clients.
In 1989, Dean expanded his knowledge of Financial products when he was appointed local Area Manager for a national general insurer, before securing a senior role with a large Finance brokerage. In 1992, Dean established McKinnon Financial Services.
During his career, Dean has completed:
Born and raised in Brisbane, Dean is married to Vicky McKinnon.
Vicky is the Financial Controller for McKinnon Financial Group as well as for our small business clients. Vicky handles the day to day cash flow management, payroll services; ATO lodgement requirements (Superannuation, PAYG and Single Touch Payroll) as well as meeting Fairwork requirements for onboarding and termination of employees.
Vicky began her career in law in 1988 working her way from a Legal Secretary to a Para-Legal in the Property, Banking and Finance Sectors and has worked for a number of small - large Brisbane legal firms.
Vicky joined McKinnon Financial Services in 2002 and assisted Dean in processing and maintaining our client's financial needs, from equipment finance to home and business loans, to general insurance.
Passionate about seeing our clients' businesses grow, and ensuring their accounts are accurate and up to date, Vicky has an excellent memory for numbers and is extremely trustworthy, dependable, organised and hardworking.
During her career, Vicky has completed the following qualifications:
Just for fun:
Vicky is also passionate about health and fitness so if you're looking for someone who has plenty of enthusiasm and energy (or you just want to go for a run, cycle, swim, yoga, walk, crossfit class [you get the picture] with someone), Vicky is up for anything.
Born in Preston, England, and migrated with her parents to Brisbane as a child, Vicky married Dean in 2004 (how lucky is she!).
Vicky is also the primary carer of MacArthur and Madeline (Dean and Vicky's fur babies - how lucky are they!).
MacArthur joined McKinnon Financial Services in May 2021 after our beloved Malika passed away (at 17 years and 8 months old).
MacArthur is a Staffordshire Bullterrier and has replaced Malika’s role as our Greeter. He likes to shake hands with his mouth and is always excited to meet new and regular clients.
Like his sister, MacArthur enjoys going to work everyday and being busy and curious.
Born West of Brisbane in Aratula he started his life on a small farm so he has a calm nature and loves to be outside. He has adapted to City life and loves plenty of walks and trail runs.
Mia is a miniature Bullterrier and the head of Security at McKinnon Financial Services (she is affectionately called 'Sergeant Mia' behind her back).
Mia joined McKinnon Financial Services in 2012. Mia is not as enthusiastic as her older sister was about going to work.
Mia likes to conduct her security work from the leather arm chair in Vicky's office (as you will see from the many photos on Facebook and Instagram).
Born North of Brisbane in 2012 Mia is now getting on in years but has found a new level of energy to keep up with her adoring younger brother.
Malika was our Staffordshire Bullterrier and the Greeter for McKinnon Financial Services.
Malika joined McKinnon Financial Services in 2003. Malika enjoyed going to work everyday and was always eager to meet new and existing clients.
She took her role very seriously and always gave our clients plenty of attention on arrival.
Her Arabic means 'Queen' which turned out to be very appropriate - she liked to rule over everyone.
Born in Brisbane in 2003 Malika left us in April 2021 just shy of her 18th birthday. Those that knew her will always love her and we miss her dearly.
